Abstract: Background: Syzygium aromaticum commonly known as Clove may be looked upon as a champion of all the spices. It has been used for centuries as one of the most important spices. Clove belonging to family Myrtaceae originates from Indonesia. It possesses many medicinal properties along with many other beneficial uses. Clove calyx and clove ball are the main parts to be considered for study in this article. Clove is rich in many phytochemicals like hydrocarbon, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and phenolic compounds.
