Abstract: Development of an effective and safe anticancer therapy is the prime concern of anticancer research today. Both in vitro and in vivo studies play a pivotal role in the development of new anticancer agents. In vitro studies have the advantage that many drugs can be studied at one time in a large number of samples of cells. An absence of biokinetics is one of the significant drawbacks of in vitro studies. In vivo testing is more specific and reliable. But the researcher has to balance the benefits with the cost and length of time. In vivo studies are definitely a smart step in the preclinical testing of new anticancer agents. This article gives an insight into the various in vivo methods for the screening of anticancer agents.
