Abstract: The leaves of three different Eupatorium species such as Eupatorium glandulosum, Eupatorium odoratum and Eupatorium triplinerve belongs to the family Asteraceae, were screened in order to study the pharmacognostical, phytochemical and antioxidant property. The Physicochemical parameters such as Loss on drying, total ash, Acid insoluble ash, Water soluble ash and percentage of solubility was calculated. The leaf powders of different species were extracted with different solvents like petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform, acetone, methanol and water and the results revealed that polar solvents showed higher extractive value than non-polar solvents. The results of qualitative phytochemical analysis confirmed the presence of alkaloids, anthraquinone glycosides, phenols, glycosides, protein, amino acids, flavonoids, fats, fixed oils and saponins in the ethanol and water extracts. The leaves were also screened for the antioxidant property using standard ascorbic acid as a control and found that they possess good antioxidant property. Thus, the preliminary studies of the three-plant species could help us to understand the medicinal properties of the plant and also help us to construct monograph of the plant.
