Abstract: New 4-nitrobenzamide derivatives, 3(a–d) and 3(a1–d1) were synthesized and structurally characterized by various spectroscopic techniques such as 1H-NMR, 13C NMR, LCMS and FT-IR spectral studies. All compounds were evaluated for in vitro antimicrobial activity. Compounds 3a and 3a1 were found to be most active and compared to the other synthesized compounds. Compounds 3a and 3a1 could be a potential antimicrobial agent and these deserve further research.
